Kiryas Joel, Monroe, NY - A congressional staff said that House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi called before the election the town's mayor Abraham Weider, as did another local congressman, Eliot Engel, and their message was "The Democrats were going to win the House so it would make sense to get on board with the winners."
